Nathalia Fernandez for NYS Assembly

In 2012, she volunteered for the Mark Gjonaj for Assembly campaign, becoming a vital asset to its daily operations and volunteer coordination.  When Mark Gjonaj was elected as Assemblyman, he asked Nathalia to join his staff and made her Executive Coordinator for the 80th Assembly district office.  Nathalia soon became the driving force of the office, maintaining responsibility for daily office operations, constituent services, and event organization for the Assemblyman. Nathalia was driven by her compassion towards her peers and neighbors and it was no surprise when she was promoted to be the Assemblyman’s Chief of Staff.

In her time within the 80th Assembly district, Nathalia has lead numerous projects and initiatives. Under her direction, the assembly office provided internships and numerous volunteer opportunities to high school and college students, organized events and health care services to seniors, and planned numerous community events.  Public service became Nathalia’s passion and provided the fulfillment she was seeking in her career. In 2016, Nathalia was elected as State Committee Woman for the 80th Assembly District.

In early 2017, Nathalia accepted what she considers the position of a lifetime, joining the Executive Chamber in the highest level of state government to take on the role as Bronx Regional Representative for Governor Andrew Cuomo. Nathalia has worked with all sectors of government and community stakeholders to advance projects and services that benefit our shared constituents.  In addition to her numerous responsibilities, Nathalia educated the borough on the availability of Excelsior Scholarship and the Paid Family Leave program. She was active in the awarding of $10 million dollars to the Bronx Civic Center under the Governor’s Downstate Revitalization Initiative. In partnership with Bronx Borough President’s office, this project allowed Nathalia to work closely with community stakeholders and small businesses to uniformly create a plan of execution on how best to utilize the grant.

Now, in the district’s time of need, and with her enhanced knowledge of state operations and services, Nathalia hopes to return to the district she calls home to represent the constituency as the Assembly Member in the 80th District.
